Extension/Tension springs
Extension springs are helical springs that bear axial tension. They are generally made of circular cross-section materials. When not under load, the coils of the extension spring are generally tight and there is no gap between them. When the two ends of the extension spring are pulled apart, the spring will try to pull them back together to absorb and store energy.
Extension springs, also known as helical Stretch Springs, are generally of equal pitch and circular cross-section.
